WHO JESUS IS.

"Who do you say I am?"

Jesus asked his followers in Luke 9:20

Peter answered, "God's Messiah."

Who is Jesus?

Jesus is God.  John 1:1

Jesus is the Son of God, one of three "persons" existing in one God. This is God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. Nobody understands this, because it is beyond human ability to understand. We believe it because God has revealed Himself to us in this way.

Jesus is the creator of all things. John 1:2-3

Jesus is eternal, He always was, always is, and always will be.

Jesus is the living Word. John 1:1; John 1:14

Jesus came to live as a human being, he was born and grew from a baby into a man who lived and walked the earth for around 33 years.

Jesus brought a message of hope, telling the people that the kingdom of God was close to them, that they had access to it through him, and that all who follow him would receive eternal life.

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. John 14:6

Jesus died a cruel death that he did not deserve, to save you and me from suffering the cruel punishment that we do deserve.

After Jesus died, God raised him from the dead to live forever. He appeared to hundreds of people in the area around Jerusalem. He had a new body, recognizable but supernaturally enabled. He ate, talked, and walked with them; but he also could appear and disappear at will, and pass through walls.

Jesus is ruling heaven and earth at God's right hand - this is a symbol for the highest place of honor and responsibility in heaven.

Jesus will return to earth - but this time it will not be to save, it will be to judge all who are alive and also all who ever lived.

Jesus wants everyone to be saved. He does not want anyone to go to hell. He does not make people go to hell; it is each person's choice.
