When you look around our community, you see lots of people with lots of needs. What stirs your heart: Hunger, homelessness, loneliness, caring for the sick?
Lakeside Christian Ministries is passionate about feeding people. This means providing food for their bodies AND nourishment for their spirits. It also means more than a handout. We want to provide a hand "up" - to lift people into a closer relationship with God and with other people.
Jesus was passionate about feeding people, and about building relationships. The Bible tells how He cared about people's need for food as well as their need to hear the word of God.
Did you know Jesus fed groups of more than 4,000 people, more than once, during His time on earth? Read about it: Mark 6:30-44 ~ Mark 8:1-4 ~ Matthew 14:15-21 ~ Luke 9:12-17
DECEMBER 2015 - Collecting Food Items to fill Blizzard Bags for Homebound Senior Citizens:
If you hate the thought of senior citizens being snowed in without enough food as much as I do, why not pick up some items to donate to Oswego County Opportunities Nutrition Services? They're collecting the following for "Blizzard Bags" that are handed out to Meals on Wheels recipients in December, to assure they have something to eat in the event of a snowstorm. And yes, they make Blizzard Bags for pets as well! Here's what we're looking for:
Oatmeal or cream of wheat packets
Ramen noodles/mac & cheese cups/ soup cups (just add hot water)
Cereal bars, granola bars (soft)
Small packaged crackers/cookies
Small juice boxes
Cocoa packets and Tea bags
Cans of dog/cat food and treats
Drop stuff off at the agency's main office, 239 Oneida St., Fulton, Mon-Fri 8:30a-4:30p or message Betsy at - maybe we can pick the stuff up from you!
What are YOU passionate about? God has given you a passion for people that will bless them and honor Him, and the abilities to do something about it. Let's find your passion together, so that you can get started!
